Super Hero

by Mary Joyce Johnson

He's never lost a marathon
Or any kind of race,
Would you believe he's never even
Taken second place!

He's never flunked the bar exam
Or failed the football team.
He's never lost a dollar
In a risky business scheme.

He's not lost one election
For the school board in out town;
And none of his ideas
Are ever voted down.

He never botches up a song
While singing for a crowd;
He never once forgets the words
Or sings too soft or loud.

He's never been embarrassed
That what he said was wrong;
He's never scared a sinner off
By coming on too strong.

He's never preached a sermon
That was even slightly dull.
He's never taught a boring class,
Or been criticized at all!

But don't stand back and marvel
At this super hero king . . .
It's very easy NOT TO FAIL;
He hasn't tried a thing!

If you want God to guide you
Then reach out for the stars.
Get off your duff and start to move;
God doesn't steer parked cars!
